I have been a huge slacker the last couple weeks since the half marathon. I've run a grand total of 2 miles. But that changes today! I'm going to do an easy 3 today, then try for 5 or 6 tomorrow. I am dreading it a little because I know it's going to be tough after taking a 2.5 week break but I'm ready to be back out there again.
Now, moving on to P90X. I have seen it mentioned here and there around the blogosphere, and recently saw a couple of infomercials on it. And you know infomercials...they can convince you that you absolutely cannot live without whatever it is they are peddling. However, P90X seems legit. It is supposedly a very intense, 90 day, at home fitness experience made up of strength, cardio and yoga workouts. We have a gym membership, and I love to go to classes there, but I am thinking of doing p90x as a jump-start way to build some muscle and burn some fat. I also want to continue running during this time so I'll have to find a way to balance them. So please, if you have any P90X experience, let me know what you think. Did you like it? hate it? get results? Any tips? Is it a waste of money? (we'll be getting it on Ebay, not from the P90X site). Did you run and do p90x at the same time? Did you follow the nutrition plan? What did you do after the 90 days are over?

This is what I hope to look like after 90 days of p90x.... a girl can dream, right?:)

Wes (acodegeekstail.blogspot.com) just finished p90x, and he loved it. he didn't get quite ripped, but he didn't follow the nutritional guidelines either.
I'm doing Tri Power (search amazon for it, it's only a book) right now, and it's awesome. I like tri power for the time aspect. don't know how long the p90x workouts are, but the tri power workouts are only 35 mins 2x a week, and 15 mins of stretching 3x a week.
Sorry, no experience with p90x.
Enjoy your run today (and tomorrow)!
i haven't used p90x but my friend does. she seems to like it and started to see results (and then, uh, fell off the bandwagon for a couple weeks) but is working on getting back on. i'd like to try it, but can bring myself to spend the money... i'm so cheap. i think a lot (some?) of the workouts are about an hour long. she started adding in some running too, on top of the regular workouts. seems more legit than all the other "get ripped" stuff, but i wonder how intense/unrealistic the diet/nutrition part is?
hope you've enjoyed some time off from running/a structured training schedule, and got in some good runs this weekend!
Hi Amanda- my boyfriend and I actually just started using P90X about three weeks ago and I really like it. We got it because my boyfriend WILL NOT go to a gym, and his knees can't handle the running that I like to do outside. So, I thought that this would be a good way to get us to work out together and so far it's great and we both have been seeing results and my boyfriend is actually following it and loves it.
We've been following both the workout and the meal plan pretty closely, I've just tweaked the meals a bit since that is my forte. You definitely have to be committed as both the meal planning and the workouts take time (and I am incorporating my running on some days so those are like double days for me), but if you do follow it the way you are supposed to, it's hard not to see results.
If you have any questions about it please feel free to ask:)
Can't help ya out in the P90X area...have never tried it.
But...let me know after 90 days-and if you look like that-I'm getting me one!
I have no experience with p90x but I hear it's HARD! I'm too wimpy to try it :P
http://borschintraining.blogspot.com/2009/03/t-minus.html this guy does it and says it's really hardcore! :) Good luck!
I have a friend who did the P90X program...i can ask her how she liked it.
i've been on the fence about getting this too... I'd love to try it and have seen it out there a lot too. I may just have to suck it up and try it!
I haven't tried it myself, but I know some people who have. A former boyfriend of mine used it and trimmed down and toned a TON. Serious results. My boss also uses it, but he only uses it a couple of days a week in addition to running. He thinks it works, but he hasn't followed it the way it's supposed to be done and so he hasn't seen if he could have major results from it. I've wanted to try it too after hearing both of them say how awesome it is.
Yeah, I don't know anything about P90X...keep us posted if you try it.
(I'm always a slacker after a big race...I think that's called recovery)
You'll have to post reviews if you do it. I wanna look like that too.
Yeah, I am a fat lazy slob! It's fun to see how the other half lives. Is P90X a computer program? A video game system?
Never heard of the P90X, hope you like it!
Have a good run!!
Never heard of p90x, but now I'm going to have to look into it.
I've heard good things about it. I just don't have that kind of time in my life right now...
Have a good run!
Do you read Shaping My Way? She writes about P90X a lot!
