Vita Coco coconut water review

The lovely folks at Vita Coco did not kindly send me some of their coconut water to review, nope...I actually forked over some moolah at Whole Foods for some of this the other day. I had read a few reviews here and there and they were all favorable so I decided to give it a try. Being pregnant has really cut down on my choices of beverages since I'm not drinking much caffeine or artificial sweeteners and of course alcohol is out, so....what's a girl to drink?? I've been drinking water, some juice and the occasional gatorade or iced tea but I'm always open to new things.

How was the coconut water? Great, I really liked it. Don't confuse it with the thick and creamy coconut milk that goes in pina coladas, coconut water is clear and thin just like water with a mild coconut taste.

Nutrition info: 8.5 ounces for 45 calories and 11g sugar and no protein. It is a potassium powerhouse with 515mg (15% rda) per serving. I know some people are using this as hydration for runs, but for me I don't think it would provide enough electrolytes on a long, hot run since the sodium content is low at 30mg/serving.

I will definitely be buying this again, and trying out some other brands to see what my fav is.

Glad you liked it! A friend of mine has been using this exclusively for months now. I am not a fan of coconut flavor myself, so it's not for me.

Awesome review on coconut water. It is so good for you and refreshing. I recommend trying Zico brand coconut waer because it tastes way better! They have delicious flavored varieties that don't add colors and sugars like the vita coco brand.

I love coconut water too. I think thats the kind I get, whatever is cheapest! It's great for you and has more potassium than a banana :) Plus you gotta love an energy drink that doesn't have chemicals and crap in it.

I use coconut water in my smoothies sometimes for a little extra nutrition benefit. I have heard it is wonderful for post run recovery

Sounds delicious! I know a few people that have replaced their gatorade with coconut water. I'm certainly tempted but it's expensive!

I love coconut anything ... add a little rum ... wait that's not running related.

I've heard it is a great recovery drink.

Huh, I've never even heard of it. I don't like coconut, but glad you found a delightful drink to enjoy! It does seem as though when you're pregnant, it's nothing but a giant list of things you can't eat or drink. And if you breastfeed, that list remains pretty much the same.

Smart move drinking this during your pregnancy! It has so many health benefits, I'm sure your baby will benefit from it too! I like Vita Coco the most out of all the brands on the market, it tastes great and makes me feel awesome. It's definitely worth every penny.

100% natural with no fats or preservatives makes this drink truly healthy. The electrolytes also make it a great form of hydration. I also like how it comes in so many flavors - pineapple is my favorite!
