Blog Blahs

Sorry I haven't been posting this week, or commenting on your blogs. I've had a mild case of the blog blahs. I've still been reading but for some reason just wasn't all that into it this week. I've had a few good runs. I did an easy 5 miler on Monday, then a 5 mile tempo run yesterday. Speedwork is a new thing for me, and it is tough. I hate it so far, but I feel like eventually it will grow on me!

I am still toying with the idea of doing the Valley of Fire marathon in Nevada in November. It would be a TOUGH one for a first marathon, but my goal would be to have fun, take pics, and finish within the alloted 7 hour time frame. Rich's ITB is my hold-up. When I first started running a couple years ago he did not run with me. I trained and ran my first half and he cheered me on, but was bummed that he hadn't trained to run it too. Then we started training together and ran the next two HMs together. I love training with him because it gives us time to talk and de-stress together. Plus it is a huge time and energy commitment, and life is just easier when we are both doing it. We ran the half in Myrtle Beach back in February, took a couple weeks off, then went out for an easy couple miles. Well somehow on that easy run his ITB decides to start acting up. He really hasn't run since then. He's done a few other cardio things like spin, or P90X videos, but occasionally he will still feel pains in it from even doing those things. Tomorrow is his "back to running" day to start training for the Napa half in July. I think we are both nervous that it will still be hurting him and he won't be able to run. He has been really disappointed and upset that he hasn't been able to run recently, and that it still doesn't seem to be totally healed. My running hasn't been as much fun either because I just enjoy it more when we are together, and because I feel bad that he wants to run but can't. So please everyone send some good thoughts for him that his run goes well tomorrow! My hope is that he is back to normal and we can sign up for the Valley of Fire marathon and run it together.

i've been there! or well, just couldn't muster up the brain power to leave decent comments anyway. no worries. sometimes you just need a break.

glad the running is going well and hope hubs' itb heals quickly - the nevada race sounds cool! challenging, yes, but that just adds to the experience:)

he needs to get on the yoga bandwagon. i just did some this morning. i just stick to the lightweight Namaste Yoga shows on FitTV, but it really keeps things loose. plus most of the chicks in yoga are totally hawt, so he'll get a cheap thrill from it too.

seriously, though. yoga and more core work will totally keep his itb loose and happy.

Good thoughts coming your way! I hope Rich's ITB is okay so you can start training together again.

Way to go on the tempo run!

I was just thinking when I was in Vegas over the weekend how beautiful some of their local races must be (once you get off the strip, of course). I hope the Valley of Fire works out for both of you!

Hey Amanda, check out my posting on Fartleks. I don't care for speed work either, but I actually enjoy doing fartleks.

Aww that is so sweet! I love that you guys run/train together...if only Matt would do that with me. I'm sending good healing thoughts his way!

It's getting hot in Charleston, training is going to SUCK this summer.

5 am runs anyone??

Oh and yes, Coco Water at WF!

Blah bloggin happens. Sometimes life gets in the way or there just isn't much to say.

Speedwork isn't bad if you don't look at it like a chore. Have fun with it, well as much fun as you can.

Some days you just need a break. When we were on vacation, I took a break from posting and commenting and it was a nice break.

Hope your husband's ITB stops acting up and you guys can run together soon.

Hope Rich recovers well! Its best to rest when unsure or nervous with the ol ITB!

Injuries are so frustrating, because as runners, we want to get out, and well, RUN! Sitting down and healing is NOT what we want! :( Good wishes to him!

I've gone through a few blogging blah phases (last August/Sept, January this year). It's when my life is blah. Sometimes it's hard to lose that funk!

I'm so jealous that you guys run together (when he's healthy). That would be a great way to spend some quality time together. I keep asking when mine is going to do a 5k with me, I think he's waiting until he's speedier...competitive brat. I'm sending positive healing vibes your hubby's way. :)

I mentioned the other day to Andy that I'd like him to run with me. I think it'd be fun to do this together...set out for long runs together, etc. But he's just not interested. I guess it's ok. It's a nice way for me to destress on my own, spend some quality time with myself.
