I read your comment on my blog, and ...Awesome job!

I read your comment on my blog, and to answer your questions:

I ran until I was 32 weeks preggo, and then threw in the towel. It was too tough then, and too hot here in FL -- in retrospect, I do wonder if I would have pressed on if the temps had been cooler at that point. It is tough running while pregnant, and you definitely slow down. At 16 weeks, I just stopped wearing my Garmin. I knew my 3 mile loop by heart, so I just ran that and figured I didn't really need to know my digits. Pregnancy is already tough work for your body, so exercising on top of that can be exhausting, but personally, I found it gave me more energy, and it just helped me in the mental/emotional sense.

There are two books I'd recommend if you're interested about the benefits of keeping at it: Exercising through your Pregnancy by James Clapp, and Running during Pregnancy, published by Rodale.

As far as post-partum running, the most difficult thing has been regaining my previous fitness level, and thus, my "speed." I was never fast, but before pregnancy, I could average 9-9:30 miles, but now if I do a sub 10:30, I feel frickin' fast! And when I first started back, I was running 12+ minute miles, and that was disappointing.

And, of course, it's tough adjusting to your new life and how running fits within that framework. Especially since you'll be dealing with sleep deprivation, changing hormone levels, stress, and an unpredictable schedule.

If you have other questions, shoot me an email (tygress422@yahoo.com). I can be rather long-winded when it comes to this subject, so sorry for the lengthy comment.Jesshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01465800584212530717noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8440128390512946068.post-5207183456961408572009-12-21T19:09:39.439-05:002009-12-21T19:09:39.439-05:00Great job!
